About us

Who we are, what this site is for, and how it pays for itself.

Wah Taste is a small independent publication about everyday cooking, street food, spice & pantry. Every piece here starts from a question a reasonable person might ask and tries to answer it completely enough to be useful.

What we cover

The site is organised into 5 sections:

  • Everyday Cooking — The dishes that actually get made on a weeknight, and the technique underneath them.
  • Street Food — What the cart does that a home kitchen does not, and how to get closer to it.
  • Spice & Pantry — What each ingredient is doing, how to buy it, and how long it really lasts.
  • Regional Kitchens — How the same dish changes across a few hundred kilometres, and why.
  • Kitchen Science — Heat, fat, acid and time — the chemistry a recipe assumes you already know.

Savoury Indian cooking only. No desserts or baking — that is The Last Bite. Keeping the remit narrow is deliberate; a title that covers everything covers nothing well.

How we work

Articles are researched before they are written, and written by people rather than generated. Where a claim is contested we say so. Where something depends on where you live or what you already have, we say that too, instead of writing as though one answer fits everyone.

Our full editorial policy sets out how pieces are researched, reviewed and corrected.

How this site is funded

Wah Taste is supported by advertising placed around the articles. That is the entire commercial relationship: advertisers buy space, not coverage. No piece is written to order, and none is reviewed by an advertiser before publication.

Who publishes it

Wah Taste is published by Verma Media, a business owned and run by Shivam Verma, registered in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. It has been publishing since 2019.

The registered address appears on our contact page and in our terms and conditions. The quickest way to reach the editorial desk is the form on the contact page, or editorial@wahtaste.com.

Photography

Photographs are licensed from Pexels and credited to the photographer beneath each image. We do not use generated imagery, and we do not present a photograph as documentation of the specific thing an article describes unless the caption says so.
